LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Ingham County Animal Control and Shelter officials reported Monday the owners of five German Shepherd puppies handed into the facility “knew” the animals were sick, “and chose not to tell us.”
One of the four-month-old puppies died Friday from parvovirus infection. Two others have tested positive, but remain without symptoms. The remaining two have not tested positive for the virus.
The dogs were originally brought to the facility on Thursday, purportedly as stray dogs found on M-52. Shelter officials were suspicious, and after the five dogs were promoted on social media, the agency received information that the people who turned them in as stray animals were, in fact, the owners.
ICACS officials traveled to the home, and the three adults signed forms legally surrendering ownership of the dogs to the ICACS. Page said there remains an open investigation related to the dogs…
