Local Schools Among Sixteen Honored as Michigan Blue Ribbon Schools for Academic Excellence

Sixteen schools in Michigan will be recognized as Blue Ribbon Schools by the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) for their academic achievement. The recognition will take place at the State Board of Education meeting on November 13, 2025, at the John A. Hannah Building in Lansing. This event follows the end of the federal National Blue Ribbon Schools program, which previously honored schools for high performance or progress in closing achievement gaps.

Interim State Superintendent Dr. Sue C. Carnell acknowledged the efforts of students, parents, staff, and communities at the selected schools. She stated that their achievements reflect strong academic performance in Michigan. The 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools were nominated as Exemplary High-Performing Schools, based on state assessment results or nationally normed tests.

Public schools being recognized include Amerman Elementary in Northville, Angell School in Ann Arbor, and City High Middle School in Grand Rapids, among others.
