Eaton County purchases historic mill site

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Eaton County Land Bank Authority has officially purchased the historic Horner Mill property, seeking to transform one of the community’s “long-neglected sites.”

Eaton County says that the mill, which sits on over 1,000 feet of riverfront property along the Grand River, is an integral part of the community’s industrial history.

The dilapidated property faces environmental and structural challenges. Hazardous materials will need to be removed, and several buildings will be fully demolished.

“After years of blight and hazardous conditions, this historic site will be rehabilitated,” said Eaton Rapids Mayor Pamela Colestock in a news release sent to 6 News…
