LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – 6 News is following concerns about a possible violation of ethics rules raised by at least two current members and one former member of the Lansing City Council, although the City Attorney determined there was no violation. Various city officials are refusing to comment on the matter.
The concern stems from Councilmember Tamera Carter’s Nov. 10 vote to rescind a make safe or demolish order for a property owned by her sister-in-law.
After reaching out to Carter, she responded with a statement via email saying, “After further review with the City Attorney it was deemed that there was no conflict of interest or appearance of conflict of interest. As an at-large representative of the City I have been elected to vote for the will of the people and I take that responsibility very seriously.”…
