LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) are backing a redevelopment on the 600 block of Michigan Avenue that will add 15 housing units and nearly 6,900 square feet of commercial space in downtown Lansing’s Stadium District.
The project, supported by a $617,210 Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) grant, will transform three functionally obsolete two-story buildings into a new mixed-use space aimed at essential workers – teachers, police officers and state employees – while boosting foot traffic and business, according to officials.
