POWER PUSHBACK | Public comment, concerns continue over possible fast-track approval of DTE power contracts for proposed data center

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — It was controversy in the state capital Friday afternoon, as members of the public lined up to speak before the Michigan Public Service Commission in Lansing.

The MPSC could soon consider whether to fast-track special contracts requested by DTE Energy under what’s called “ex parte” approval.

“That means that the utility comes before the commission without other parties intervening, and MPSC staff is involved in reviewing the case,” MPSC Chief Operating Officer Mike Byrne explained in a presentation posted to the MPSC’s YouTube page on Thursday…
