Mason City Council votes on ordinance that could pave way for future data centers

MASON, Mich. (WILX) – Mason City Council is set to vote Monday night on a controversial zoning ordinance that could pave the way for future data centers in the city.

While no data centers have been proposed in Mason, last week at a packed and emotional Mason Planning Commission meeting, the commission voted to move forward with the ordinance, sending it to the city council.

The proposed ordinance was met with pushback from residents during the meeting and at one point appeared headed towards being denied. But commissioners ultimately approved the measure, which includes strict zoning rules…
