Jackson police identify stolen items in $50K retail fraud

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) —  The Jackson Police Department has identified the items stolen in a statewide retail fraud worth more than $50,000.

According to a post on the Jackson Police Department Facebook page, an officer was investigating a retail fraud complaint at an unspecified local store, where more than $8,000 in merchandise was stolen on December 9.

An officer on the scene identified a suspect and determined that he had also stolen items from several other stores across the state.

The Jackson Police Department Detective Bureau continued the investigation and searched the suspect’s residence in Eaton County. Upon searching the residence, officers executing the search warrant found:

  • 168 Fitbit watches
  • 55 massage devices
  • 40 Google internet devices
  • 16 gaming devices
  • 10 cameras
  • Several bags of clothing with retail tags still attached
  • Various other miscellaneous items in the original store packaging
