LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -A winter storm system will move into the area Friday, bringing a First Alert Weather Day with freezing rain and sleet that will make travel extremely difficult throughout much of the day.
What to Expect
The storm is expected to arrive early Friday and could last through the mid-afternoon, creating a prolonged period of hazardous conditions. Freezing rain will be the primary threat, with some areas also seeing sleet and a little snow mixed in.
In the heaviest areas, a quarter inch of ice could accumulate on surfaces. While that may not sound like much, even a thin layer of ice can make roads extremely slippery and dangerous.
Sleet will also add to the treacherous conditions, making it difficult for drivers to maintain control on roadways.
