Lansing small businesses extend holiday hours for last-minute shoppers

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – LANSING — Small businesses in Lansing’s REO Town shopping district extended their hours Wednesday to accommodate last-minute holiday shoppers searching for jewelry, artwork and music.

Vendors inside the REO Town Marketplace stayed open for several hours to grab additional holiday shopping foot traffic. Marketplace manager and owner of Voodoo’s World of Oddtiques John Harris said small business owners need that patronage more than usual this year.

“Big, corporate box stores, they’ve got a lot of financial backing, they’ve got unlimited money to put into their businesses, and we don’t,” Harris said. “So every little bit helps, whether you’re coming in and buying a $5 little item to a $100 big item. It’s extremely important.”…
