Ingham County warns of law enforcement Bitcoin scam

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Ingham County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of yet another law enforcement impersonation scam — this time involving Bitcoin.

The office says that a scammer has been calling residents using a blocked number and telling them they have warrants. The scammer then goes on to tell potential victims to pay them by exchanging cash at a Bitcoin station.

Deputies want you to know that the sheriff’s office will never call for bond payments over the phone– and do not conduct transactions using Bitcoin…
