Lansing hospitals welcome their first babies of 2026

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — While some were ringing in the New Year with toasts and parties, two Mid-Michigan hospitals found themselves welcoming their first babies of 2026.

At Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Krysta and Antonio James welcomed their first son Mateo Hiram James, who weighed 8 lbs., 7 oz., at 12:16 a.m. Thursday morning. While he was due Dec. 29, he elected to wait a few extra days to start the year off with a bang.

Eight hours later at McLaren Greater Lansing, Antonett and Terrell Couthen welcomed their son Terrell Jr. at 8:30 a.m. Terrell Jr. weighed 6 lbs., 11 oz…
