Owosso church opens overnight homeless shelter for winter months

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – An Owosso church is stepping up to help homeless men and women have a warm place to stay this winter.

Starting Monday and running through the end of March, Owosso Christ Episcopal Church will transform into an overnight shelter. The shelter is open from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. and can serve up to 20 people with separate sleeping rooms for men and women, and offers a small breakfast.

Becky Most is the associate director of programs and services at Hope Works Mid-Michigan, a nonprofit organization that helps run the shelter. She knows the struggle of homelessness firsthand, having to crowd into her parents’ house with her kids after her divorce…
