East Lansing High School students walk out for Renee Good

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Hundreds of East Lansing High School students walked out of school Friday afternoon in response to the Wednesday death of 37-year-old U.S citizen Renee Good at the hands of a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent in Minneapolis.

Students at the event were seen holding posters and signs with slogans such as “Abolish ICE,” “I don’t see any borders, do you?” and “No decent human has a heart made of ICE.”

Some told personal stories and even denounced the ongoing ICE raids across the nation. Many expressed anger and sadness at the recent events in Minneapolis. Student Tania Dijagah told 6 News she feels as if, regardless of your legal status, anyone could be confronted by ICE.

“I’ve lived in America my whole life. I was born here,” said Tania. “But knowing that people like Renee are citizens and they were here their whole lives, and they’re still being targeted. [It’s terrifying.]”
