Keeping your furnace healthy in cold temperatures

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – As temperatures drop, heating and cooling companies are encouraging people to take preventive measures to ensure HVAC systems run properly. While it may be tempting to plug in space heaters or turn off furnaces completely to save money, it might do more harm than good.

Vredevoogd Heating and Cooling say they are receiving an increase in calls requesting repairs. Amanda Olds is the company’s Marketing Manager and says that there are things people can do before giving technicians a call.

“Some of the things we’re noticing are just like dirty filters,” says Olds. “That’s something we can fix in the home, but we don’t want people to have to call us if they don’t absolutely have to, especially in this economy and this weather.”…
