Just a good old fashioned Tom Izzo line. I’m not saying it’s limited to Tom Izzo, it’s basically every And-1 shirt we ever had growing up. The insult of not being able to guard a mother has been around for years. It just fits Tom Izzo, as one of the last old guard coaches, to still use it as an insult. It played in 1999, it’s going to play in 2026.
Now, he could have said it was a joke or trying to fire someone up in the press conference. But, nope, he thinks his 99 year old mother would whoop Kur Teng’s ass.

Kinda have to make this happen now, right? I’m not going to USA Today, mostly because it’s 2026. You don’t need USA Today to check a score anymore or get some news. Kur Teng has to fly to Appleton and shut out Tom Izzo’s mom. There’s no other option, you got called out twice on video, time to prove a point. At the same time Mrs. Izzo has to be pissed off hearing her son 1) set up a 1v1 game she wants nothing to do with and 2) say she has no game. At least say she’s got decent footwork, Tom. Can’t be insulting your mother out here like this…
