Sheriff, deputies fill Elsie meeting amid rising tension with police chief

ELSIE, Mich. (WLNS) – Controversy is brewing in Clinton County as tensions boil over between the sheriff and leadership in the village of Elsie. Accusations of unprofessional behavior and misconduct came to a head in January, when multiple uniformed members of the sheriff’s office packed a village council meeting.

Conflict between law enforcement leaders had been brewing for some time. Back in December, Elsie Police Chief Destinee Bryce and Village President Jason Freeman spoke out at a County Board of Commissioners meeting.

They said they were frustrated by what they called “frequent accusations” from the sheriff’s office that Bryce was not performing her duties…
