East Lansing Sheetz approved. When latest location could open

EAST LANSING — City Council approved a special use permit this week that allows construction of the Lansing area’s first Sheetz gas and convenience store.

The 4-1 vote paves the way for the popular Pennsylvania-based chain of restaurant/convenience store/gas stations to build a 6,139-square-foot location with a drive-thru, convenience store, and fueling station that includes eight double-sided pumps at 111 E. Saginaw St. A now-vacant Rite Aid currently occupies the just over 2-acre property.

The planned East Lansing location, at the northeast corner of East Saginaw Street and Abbot Road, is expected to employ 30 to 35 full-time workers…
