Mason restaurant will rebound after Valentine’s Day fire, owner says

MASON – The owner of a South Cedar Street restaurant that caught fire on Valentine’s Day during dinner service says damage to the building won’t stop the business from reopening.

Manager Brandy Warvel smelled smoke inside The Tipsy Nickel Bar & Grille’s kitchen around 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 and called the Mason Fire Department, said her father, Tim Warvel. His family owns the restaurant. They opened it nearly three years ago after long-time business Darb’s Eatery & Tavern closed its doors at the property after 42 years.
