Delta Twp. shooting suspect told police he attacked family because he received threats online, court records say

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The man accused of hitting a family with his car and shooting four people in Delta Township on Friday has been ordered to undergo a competency evaluation.

A 3-year-old girl was killed in the shooting, while three adults — the child’s 33-year-old mother, 36-year-old father and a 72-year-old woman who tried to intervene — were hospitalized, according to court documents obtained Tuesday by News 10.

Alexander Lamar Banks, Jr., is facing 10 charges, including one count of first-degree premeditated murder and three counts of assault with intent to murder. He is also facing six weapons-related charges.

Banks was arraigned virtually in Eaton County 56A District Court on Tuesday. He remains held without bond, “because there has been a petition and a proposed order filed for competency,” Hon. Adrianne Van Langevelde, a 56A District Court Judge, said…
