LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – A U.S. District Court has ordered DTE Energy and three of its subsidiaries to pay $100 million for breaking the Clean Air Act.
The violations involve the EES Coke Battery Facility on Zug Island, between River Rouge and Detroit. The facility, which makes metallurgical coke for steel production, was found to have released much more sulfur dioxide than allowed.
