On Monday, Clinton County Road Commission officials took to social media to caution residents that even though the roads look clear, frost underneath causes rough road conditions:

“Recent warm weather has caused gravel roads to soften and deteriorate more quickly than usual. Although the surface may appear clear of snow and ice, there is still 24 to 36 inches of frost beneath the roadway.”
