Outdoor sauna plans for East Lansing nixed. Why company abandoned idea

EAST LANSING — The owners of a Lansing-based sauna company who planned to open a seasonal outdoor sauna park along West Grand River Avenue have nixed the project.

The park, first proposed in the fall of 2024, was slated for a lot at 270 W. Grand River Ave. near Crunchy’s restaurant. Timber Sauna Co.’s plan was to lease the property, which was previously home to Biggby Coffee’s first location, for the 2,700-square-foot sauna park.

Timber, Fire & Ice was expected to feature three electric saunas, a five-person cold plunge tub, and a check-in studio with lockers and changing rooms…
