Winter’s almost over.
You know what that means!
No, not spring. Construction season is about to descend upon Michigan once again!
The city of Lansing is preparing to commemorate the occasion with a doozy — the complete shutdown of one of the state capital’s busiest thoroughfares.
Where the Closure Will Happen
Oakland Avenue is among Lansing’s most heavily traveled routes, with three lanes of one-way traffic heading westbound across the northern side of the city. Beginning March 2, Oakland Avenue will be completely shut down between Cedar Street and Walnut Avenue for construction.
What Construction Work Is Planned
It’s part of a project that will include the installation of new sewers, a water main, pavement, curbs, sidewalk ramps and other utilities in the area. It’s expected to take until mid-summer to complete, with an estimated re-opening date of July 25.
