The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 1:50 p.m. EST on Friday for strong thunderstorms until 2:45 p.m. EST for Gratiot, Ionia, Clinton, Eaton and Ingham counties.
The storms are packing wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).
“At 1:49 p.m., Doppler radar tracked strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles south of Ithaca to 7 miles southeast of Lake Odessa. Movement was northeast at 50 mph,” adds the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”…
