The fight to restore Michigan State’s varsity swim and dive team continues

The team, which was cut by MSU Athletics from its varsity roster in 2020, still has people fighting to bring the storied program back. A new pool, and a new member of the Board of Trustees, could lead to change.

On Thursday, Oct. 22, 2020, around 5 p.m., Michigan State’s Athletic department cut its swim and dive program. The program was just over a month into its 99th season. With training already underway, athletes and staff members were blindsided by the decision.
