Families continue struggling with screen addiction as social media platforms face liability

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – Local families are grappling with children spending hours on screens, as recent court rulings hold Meta and Google liable for designs that experts say harm young people.

“I still do have my parents, but I wish they were strict on me now to be, like, no screens for more than, like, an hour or something,” said Jerry Louson who is visiting his family in East Lansing for spring break.

Some families are setting limits. “They have pretty good screen rules,” Louson said, adding that his niece and nephew typically get about a half hour to an hour with their devices, “but after that, it’s outdoor time, and there’s always breaks.”…
