85-year-old Michigan woman who buys scratch off tickets once a week just won $1 million

LANSING, MI — An Antrim County woman who follows a weekly lottery routine won a $1 million jackpot recently, playing the Michigan Lottery’s Golden Key instant game.

“It’s been part of my routine for years to buy scratch off tickets once a week,” said the 85-year-old winner, who chose to remain anonymous. “The $1 million win was the first thing I scratched off on the ticket. I’m a pretty even-keeled person, so I didn’t have a crazy reaction and stayed calm for the most part. My daughter was with me at the time, so it was fun to be able to share that moment with her.”

The winner bought her ticket at the Family Fare, located at 240 South Lake Street in East Jordan. She visited Lottery headquarters in Lansing recently to claim her prize. She elected to receive the money as a lump-sum payment of $693,000 rather than the annuity…
