LANSING — Over the next weeks, the city will decide exactly how best to use its budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Mayor Andy Schor went over budget highlights for the city’s 2026-27 fiscal year during the Lansing City Council meeting on March 23, the first meeting after council members received budget details. The $307 million budget proposal includes $182 million in the general fund. The current general fund budget is $173 million.
“I am happy to say that we’re in good shape,” Schor said. “We certainly received a lot of requests from departments. We received the council’s priorities. We heard from a lot of members of the public. The moral of the story is we’re going to continue to maintain the services and positions that we currently have without any cuts. And that’s always a good thing.”…
