Untreated sewage released into Grand River near Dimondale following heavy rain

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Village of Dimondale is warning residents not to interact with water from the Grand River after untreated sewage was released into it following heavy rainfall on Saturday.

According to a social media postmade by the village, several pump stations within the Dimondale sanitary sewer system were unable to keep up with the increased flow from the excessive rain.

To prevent untreated sewage backups in homes, the discharge was released into the Grand River. Dimondale reports that this is “expected to be a short-term measure until system inflow stabilizes.”…
