‘Humbled’: Lansing teacher completes the Boston Marathon

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A Lansing teacher is recovering from a taxing physical feat— completing the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Kate List, a fifth-grade teacher at Our Savior Lutheran School, never thought in a million years she’d be running 26.2 miles in the Boston Marathon.

“I actually really disliked running as a kid,” List said. “I played soccer, tennis, and other sports. I’ve always been athletic, but whenever my coaches would want me to run, I’m like, ‘Oh, do I have to?’”

Things have changed for List since then. She says she practiced before and after school to prepare herself but running a marathon is still no small feat.

“I felt my legs get really weak at one point. My quads felt like they were about to give out. So, I stopped once real briefly, and did just like a quick stretch,” List said…
