Michigan woman pleads guilty in $4.6 million child modeling fraud scheme

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – A Michigan woman has pleaded guilty to carrying out a multi-million-dollar fraud scheme involving supposed child modeling events and using the money for gambling.

The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan announced Thursday that 46-year-old Chanise Coyne pleaded guilty to a charge of wire fraud.

Coyne, from New Boston — about 25 miles west of Detroit in Wayne County — admitted she obtained more than $4.6 million from a local family by “fraudulently claiming that money would be used for advance fees associated with the participation of the family’s young daughter in various modeling events across the country.”…
