LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — You’ve likely heard it before: the Huntridge Theater is close to opening. However, Las Vegas officials are asking for more details from the developer behind the historic venue as a private-public nonprofit deal awaits to be struck.
The Las Vegas Historic Preservation Commission held its regular meeting Wednesday morning, hearing an update from J Dapper the Las Vegas developer leading the theater project. It follows the announcement that the venue would be handed off in a private-public deal to a nonprofit.

SOHO Playhouse is no longer involved in the project, according to Dapper, who cited a growing concern about the long-term feasibility of the partnership.
“That tenant was a nonprofit, and the amount of rent that they agreed to pay on an annual basis wasn’t going to work,” Dapper said. “If I would have completed the renovation, and they would have opened for business, eventually they would have handed me back the keys and then I would have had a beautifully restored building that’s not activated.”…
