LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A vigil was held Tuesday night at Sunset Park to honor two women who died in a jet ski crash at Sand Hollow State Park in Utah on Sept. 15.

Although Utah officials have yet to officially release the names of the victims, a vigil attendee confirmed with 8 News Now that sisters 26-year-old Marissa Thomas and 28-year-old Mariah Thomas were the victims of the accident.

The sisters are also named in an online fundraiser circulating on social media, seeking donations for their family.
A statement attributed to their mother on the fundraiser said, “Angels for forever Now! It has been Amazing being your Mother. You Ladys lived. You were bigger than life and made being a “mommy” easy. Mariah and Marissa thank you, babies, for doing the most and making success and happiness easy.”

According to a vigil attendee, no friend or family member at the vigil agreed to speak with 8 News Now on camera out of respect for the mother who continues to grieve. Social media posts indicated the sisters moved to the Las Vegas area in recent years from Ohio.
