LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Friday’s rainfall flooded parts of Las Vegas, leaving some Eastside roads filled with water and several drivers stranded. Businesses in the area said they had not seen flooding like it before in the area, and the City of Las Vegas said crews have spent the past few days responding to the rain event.
Drivers stranded on flooded roads
Several drivers were stranded Friday afternoon after trying to drive through flooded roadways. At least five cars were disabled in deep storm water near North Marion Drive and East Stewart Avenue. Passersby helped the stranded drivers.
Businesses deal with water
Iliana Ivarra, a sales representative from US Safe Moving, told FOX5 employees panicked when water started flooding the back of the business.
“And we have a bunch of boxes with paperwork, so we were all kind of panicked trying to make sure that the water didn’t damage the paperwork we have,” said Ivarra.
City response
The City of Las Vegas said its streets and sanitation teams have been addressing multiple calls. The city said that this weekend, crews were deployed to the hardest-hit areas with skid steers, loaders, Vactor trucks, and sweepers.
Some people said they still worry the infrastructure needs adjustments…
