Las Vegas shelter in dire need of foster homes after taking in more than 900 animals

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — The Animal Foundation announced Friday it is in a critical space crisis due to the high number of animals being brought to the shelter.

According to a social media post , The Animal Foundation has taken in 917 animals over the last two weeks. The Foundation said they currently have over 744 animals in their care.

The shelter said they are out of space to house any more dogs on their campus and urgently need 50 dogs of any size over 6 months old to go to temporary foster homes to help make space.

The Animal Foundation asks people to foster for a least a week.

“We are facing some very difficult decisions to ensure the well-being of our animals and team,” the post said. “This is our heartbreaking reality.”

In order to help make sure all dogs get fostered, the Animal Foundation is making it easier than ever. Through Monday, Feb. 19, those who wish to foster can go directly to the shelter’s adoption building to pick up a dog, no appointment needed.
