Is your Southwest Gas bill too high? Here’s how to get help

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Help for residents who can’t afford their heating bills is available from agencies in the Las Vegas valley.

Offices are closed today for the Presidents Day holiday, but you can call the nonprofits listed below on Tuesday. Also, links to Southwest Gas programs that can help are at the bottom of the list.

  • HopeLink, (702) 566-0576: A program known as Welfare Set Aside Funding is funded by the state of Nevada, using a combination of state and federal funds to assist qualified residents who need help with utility bills.
  • Clark County Social Services, (702) 455-4270: The county might have limited funding to assist with utility bills.
  • Lutheran Social Services of Nevada, (702) 639-1730: A privately funded utility assistance program available to Clark County families directly from the Lutheran church.
  • Jewish Family Services, (702) 732-0304: Lower income applicants experiencing a financial hardship or crisis may be able to qualify for emergency assistance.

8 News Now could not verify that programs run by the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities offer assistance with utility bills, but this article will be updated with that information after the holiday. Aid through HELP of Southern Nevada is listed below.
