A’ja Wilson Sends Strong Message After Win in Aces-Liberty

The reigning WNBA champions are still standing. A’ja Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces took care of business on Friday night and avoided a sweep in their semifinal series against the New York Liberty with a 95-81 victory at home.

The Aces’ determination to take Game 3 can be best summed up by the powerful statement Wilson shared following her team’s win.

“This is an elimination game,” Wilson said in a postgame interview on the court, per ESPN.

“I cannot sit down, that’s looking like giving up. That’s looking like quitting to me.”

The Aces are on the verge of elimination from WNBA title contention, as they remain just a loss away from losing the series to New York, which won the first two games of the matchup.

But in Game 3, Wilson and company simply refused to go down. Wilson had 19 points and 14 rebounds in 33 minutes of action on the floor. Meanwhile, Jackie Young and Kelsey Plum had 24 and 20 points, respectively.
