Boater rescued from Colorado River one day after wreck

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A boater was rescued on the Colorado River south of Las Vegas a day after they suffered a wreck and a head injury, authorities said.

A U.S. Border Patrol helicopter was returning to Arizona on Thursday when the crew spotted the overturned boat on the river a few miles south of Nelson’s Landing, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Search and Rescue (LVMPD SAR) unit wrote in a social media post.

The crew made contact with a person, who said the boat had wrecked the day before and they needed medical attention. The helicopter couldn’t access the boater because of the steep terrain, so an air unit with LVMPD SAR was requested, along with boats from Customs and Border Patrol and the National Park Service…
