Fire burning in Wetlands Park in southeast Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) —  A large column of smoke in the east Las Vegas valley is due to a fire at the Clark County Wetlands Park.

The fire was first seen at 8:50 a.m. The park is located near Tropicana Avenue/Broadbent Boulevard east of Boulder Highway. Clark County fire crews were responding to the fire Monday morning.

Wayne Dailey, deputy fire chief for the Clark County Fire Department, said the wind was working in first responders’ favor, blowing the fire away from homes in the area. Still, six engines were in place from the Clark County and Henderson fire departments to protect the Wetlands Park visitor center and water treatment plant…
