LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Brace for some strong wind gusts Monday. The Las Vegas valley is under a high wind warning, where gusts could reach 55 mph.
According to 8 News Now weather anchor Sherry Swensk, the National Weather Service in Las Vegas said the warning also includes Red Rock National Conservation Area, the Spring Mountains, southern Nye County, including Pahrump. The warning is in effect until 2 a.m. Tuesday.
The final day of March will bring plenty of gusty southwest winds for the afternoon and evening, especially in the west and south valley neighborhoods. There could be a few sprinkles from passing clouds, but no expected rain showers. The high temperature is expected to reach the normal mid-70s by the afternoon.
The strong winds are out ahead of a deep area of low pressure moving into Northern California and the Great Basin on Monday. Scattered rain and snow showers will stay west and north of Clark County, but there could be a few wind-driven sprinkles as this system pushes through.
