LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Pet owners are being urged to be vigilant about common household items that can pose serious health risks to their furry companions. Dr. Ambika Vaid, an integrative veterinarian, highlighted five common toxins that can be dangerous or even deadly to pets.
“Chocolate, especially dark and semi-sweet varieties, can be toxic even in small amounts,” said Dr. Vaid. She also warned about the dangers of marijuana ingestion, noting that “many pet parents hesitate to admit their pet ingested THC, leading vets to run drug tests instead of treating immediately.”
Lilies, human medications, and garlic and onions are also on the list of hazardous substances. “Lily ingestion can lead to irreversible kidney failure,” Dr. Vaid explained. “Pain relievers, blood pressure meds, and antidepressants are among the most commonly ingested toxins. Even one pill can be harmful.”…
