Las Vegas plans to convert golf course into major affordable housing development

LAS VEGAS ( KLAS ) — The Las Vegas City Council will consider zoning changes on Wednesday for a major development project on the site of the Desert Pines Golf Club along Interstate 11 in the east valley.

The mixed-use development includes plans for affordable housing, “market rate” housing, park space, commercial space, a community center and a job training center, according to previously released information.

The City of Las Vegas owns the land, and the golf course will continue to operate there until development requires it to close. The 100-acre property is bounded by Bonanza Road on the north, I-11/U.S. 95 on the south, Pecos Road on the east and Mojave Road on the west…
