Las Vegas Police address e-bike safety concerns amid rising teen usage

Las Vegas (KSNV) — The growing trend of E-bikes has sparked an even bigger concern about safety across the valley, and Las Vegas Metro Police vow to work with residents to help increase awareness about better informing riders of the potential risks the bikes could pose, all while helping ensure public safety.

In a Tuesday night town hall meeting held at the Mountains Edge Master Association where LVMPD officers spoke to concerned residents, saying the increase of teens on e-bikes is something the department has also recently noticed an uptick of.

“It is fairly new we’ve seen it in the past 6 months and i think that deals with technology as we advance they started with slower speeds and now they’ve got more and more speed involved and so that is why we are seeing a bit of a rise here in the new trend and the new technology,” said LVMPD Lt.
