Fatal wrong-way crash on I-15 raises questions about trooper coverage in rural Nevada

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Nevada State Trooper was more than 40 miles away when notified about a wrong-way driver on Interstate 15 near the Valley of Fire that ended in a deadly crash, according to a department spokesperson.

A minivan driver was reported heading north in the southbound lanes of I-15 after 1:40 a.m. on April 14 when the car hit a semi-tractor trailer.

The minivan driver died, and the big rig driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries…
