Traffic engineers assess crosswalk following tragic death of student

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A traffic study is underway after a senior at a Las Vegas high school was hit and killed in a crosswalk by a suspected impaired driver.

Traffic engineers with the City of Las Vegas were seen at the crosswalk on Buffalo Drive outside of Arbor View High School during dismissal after 1 p.m. on Monday. They examined the road where a senior was hit and killed by a man accused of driving under the influence, identified by Las Vegas Metropolitan Police as 37-year-old Keenan Jackson on May 2.

An arrest report stated Jackson was more than three times the legal limit after agreeing to a breath test where the device recorded a .286 for Jackson. He was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County Detention, where a judge set his bail at $500,000 over the weekend. He is due back in court on Tuesday…
