Henderson family reaches settlement with city after tragic accident near school

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The Henderson City Council has approved a $225,000 settlement for the family of Rex Patchett, a 13-year-old who was tragically killed nearly three years ago in front of a Henderson middle school.

Patchett was walking home from school when a driver, traveling at more than 90 miles per hour, lost control and struck him.

The driver was subsequently sentenced to six years in prison for reckless driving…
