LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman killed in an apartment was stabbed multiple times when her roommate’s son attacked her “like a raging lunatic,” according to police documents.
Mason Mireles, 34, is facing a murder charge in the death of Jody Grotts, 59, on May 31 at an apartment in the 6900 block of Dunsbach Way, near E. Lake Mead and N. Hollywood boulevards.
Grotts was found with stab wounds to her neck, abdomen, and back and was pronounced dead at the scene, despite efforts by her roommate, police, and paramedics to save her.

According to the arrest report, Mireles was at the apartment visiting his mother. She told police that around 3 p.m., he had gone across the street a few times and came back “with some weed.” About 20 minutes later, Mireles came out of the bathroom with a knife, described as a butcher knife, in his hand “like a raging lunatic,” yelling at Grotts, “it’s all that [expletive] fault. It’s all her fault.”…
