Tragedy struck on Flamingo Road in Las Vegas earlier this month as a hit-and-run collision resulted in the death of a 66-year-old woman. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported that the pedestrian, whose identity is pending notification, succumbed to her injuries last Saturday, after being struck on June 3 by a red 2018 Alfa Romeo Stelvio. In a statement obtained by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, this incident has been recorded as the 74th traffic-related fatality within their jurisdiction for the year 2025.
The collision happened at approximately 1:10 AM, where the victim was crossing East Flamingo Road west of Palos Verdes Street from north to south outside of a marked crosswalk. According to information released by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the driver of the Alfa Romeo, identified as 33-year-old Isaac Velasco, fled the scene immediately after the collision. It was only later, after locating the Alfa Romeo at the registered owner’s address, that Velasco claimed to have no injuries and was subsequently arrested and charged with hit-and-run-related offenses.
Witness testimonies and dash camera video were crucial elements that police used to quickly piece together the events leading up to the hit-and-run. Despite the efforts of medical personnel who transported the victim to Sunrise Hospital, her injuries were deemed life-threatening, and she later passed away as a result of the trauma sustained.
