LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Some cyber criminals hope to have you at the word “hello.” Simply responding to that simple greeting could open the door to a scam.
It starts with a “Hello” or “Hi” text from a number you don’t know. Scammers send out thousands of these messages to random numbers, hoping someone texts back. Any sort of response lets them know they’ve reached a real person with an active phone number.
Scammer will then continue to contact you in hopes of gaining both your trust and your personal information…
